Dori Wreck
The Dori is a US-built Second World War Liberty ship that took part in Operation Overlord and sank on 16 January 1964. It lies on sand about 800 m off Ponta Delgada, with the stern top at about 9 m and the bow at about 20 m, and is now an underwater archaeological park (fishing prohibited). The stern attracts small fish and sometimes pelagic shoals; the bow has large structures, pipes and stairways, and Moroccan white seabream gather around the boilers. The official guide calls it considered by many the best dive on São Miguel. The position is approximate (the official guide publishes no coordinates) and is for orientation only.
