Kakoskali Reef

Kakoskali Reef lies off Latchi opposite the St George (Geronisos) site and is part of a marine protected area. Visit Cyprus calls it shallow and easy (10 m) and perfect for beginners, with rock, ravines, canyons, archways and overhangs, colourful soft sponges, pinna nobilis in the Posidonia meadows, schools of amberjack, groupers, moray eels and stingrays. An upside-down half-buried yacht is home to a large grouper and ancient amphora fragments lie in the rocks. Cydive describes St George Island – Kakoskali (Kakoskali means "bad steps") as a wall from the seabed almost to the surface, dropping from 12 m to 35 m, and Crest Dive runs full-day trips here to caves at up to 35 m.

depth: 5–40 m
