France – Lot cave springs
The limestone causses of the Lot (Quercy) drain through dozens of flooded caves that surface as springs along the Célé, the Lot and the Ouysse near Rocamadour. Sites such as the Ressel, Cabouy, Saint-Georges and Font del Truffe draw cave divers from all over Europe, with water around 13 °C and visibility that can exceed 20 m when rivers are low. Every site here is overhead diving: you need cave training, your own gas planning and respect for fragile access – many springs are on private land or are captured drinking-water sources, and several have been closed after accidents or disputes. Two southern legends, Fontaine de Vaucluse and Font Estramar, are listed for reference but are currently closed to divers.
