Greece – Cyclades & Dodecanese
The central and south-eastern Aegean combines volcanic scenery with wartime wrecks. In the Santorini caldera, dives run along walls and lava formations around Nea Kameni, Aspronisi and Thirasia, while Milos offers basalt columns at Glaronissia and the sea caves of Kleftiko and Papafragas. Off Kea lie the Britannic, the Burdigala and the Patris in a protected underwater historic site that can be dived only on guided, non-penetration dives with licensed Greek centres. Further east the Dodecanese add the coast and caves of Rhodes and the Second World War wrecks of Leros, such as the destroyer Vasilissa Olga in Lakki. In 2022 the Ministry of Culture opened 91 ship and aircraft wrecks to organised recreational diving; this module marks which listed sites are guided-only and which positions are only estimates.
