Great Wall of Pantar
The Great Wall of Pantar, also known as Bama, is a steep drop-off on the east coast of Pantar facing Alor, where the strait narrows and the current can run hard. The slope is crowded with anthias, butterflyfish and triggerfish, schools of long-jawed mackerel and fusiliers feed in the blue, and bluefin trevally hunt along the wall. Napoleon wrasse, snapper and sometimes schooling bumphead parrotfish appear deeper, while black coral bushes hide longnose hawkfish and nudibranchs.
