Karang Makassar

Karang Makassar is a long, shallow plateau of coral rubble with scattered small coral heads, lying near Gili Makassar between Komodo and Tatawa. The bommies serve as cleaning stations for reef mantas, which can be seen year-round but most reliably in the manta season. Divers drift with the current over the plateau, usually north to south, and may also meet eagle rays, thorny rays, reef sharks, dartfish and gobies.
