Shinkoku Maru
Modern 1939 oil tanker (10,020 t) converted to a fleet oiler, a veteran of Pearl Harbor and Ceylon, hit repeatedly during the Hailstone raids and sunk on 18 Feb 1944 with 86 dead. Upright and densely covered in soft corals, sponges and hydroids, she is often called the most colourful wreck in the lagoon: bridge at about 10 m, stern near 38 m, a medical bay with an operating room, engine telegraphs, big deck guns fore and aft and an excellent engine room. A top night dive.
depth: 10–38 m
