Shark Island

Shark Island is a small granite islet off Koh Tao's south-east tip, named for its dorsal-fin-shaped rocks rather than for its sharks. Reef tops start near the surface and slope over boulders and ledges to sandy patches at 24–28 m. Soft corals cover one side and hard corals the other; barracuda, bannerfish and honeycomb groupers are common and blacktip reef sharks and turtles visit. Occasionally a leopard shark or even a whale shark turns up. Current can run, which brings the fish but sometimes forces a change of site.

Tiefe: 3–24 m
