Shark Point
Shark Point (Hin Musang) is a chain of three pinnacles running north to south between Phuket and Phi Phi; only the first breaks the surface, where a small marker stands. It has been a marine sanctuary since 1992 and is named after the leopard sharks that rest on the sand between the pinnacles. The rock is covered in soft corals, anemones, gorgonian fans up to about 3 m and barrel sponges, sheltering ghost pipefish, seahorses and moray eels, while Kuhl's stingrays and cuttlefish use the sandy gaps. Whale sharks and spotted eagle rays are rare visitors.
