Boonsung Wreck

The Boonsung is an old tin-mining dredger that sank off Bang Sak, north of Khao Lak, in the mid-1980s and lies on flat sand at about 18–20 m. The 2004 tsunami broke it into several sections, which now act as an artificial reef in an otherwise empty sandy seabed. Locals call it 'fish soup': clouds of snappers, fusiliers, batfish and trevally surround the wreck, and it is packed with lionfish, scorpionfish, several moray species and many nudibranchs. Kuhl's stingrays and cuttlefish rest on the sand between the sections.

Tiefe: 11–20 m
