Taranto Wreck
The Taranto was a steam cargo ship built in 1899 that the Italian forces used as a transport in the Second World War. On 15 February 1943, carrying flour and tractors, it hit a mine, struck the Grebeni islets off Lapad and sank. The hull lies at about 45 degrees, bow at 23 m and stern around 40 m, with the seabed under the stern near 52 m. One of the tractors stands upright on the sand at about 50 m, overgrown with pink sponge.
