Agincourt Reef North
Agincourt Reef North is a drift dive at the northern end of Agincourt Reef, next to the entrance from the Coral Sea into the inside of the Great Barrier Reef, about 62 km from Port Douglas. After being dropped near the reef in about 15 m, divers follow a canyon to a wall dropping to 35 m and turn along it, passing further canyons, with gorgonias on the wall and bottom. The reef top is more than 15 m deep at the start, shallower to about 12 m on the ridge and 8 to 10 m further south. The position is a drop site, not a mooring. Located in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park: Green (no-take) zones allow diving without a permit, but fishing and collecting are prohibited; tourism operators hold the park permits and the environmental management charge is passed on through the operator. Check the current zoning map before any non-operator visit.
