Pixie Gardens
Pixie Gardens is on the western side of the southern end of Ribbon Reef No. 10, with the mooring in about 8 m on the main reef. From the mooring the dive heads north along the wall past larger bommies to a small outlying coral outcrop at about 12 m, then back up to 4 to 5 m. Small caves, pipefish and a lot of macro life make it an easy, shallow site, typically done as a first dive of the trip. Located in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park: Green (no-take) zones allow diving without a permit, but fishing and collecting are prohibited; tourism operators hold the park permits and the environmental management charge is passed on through the operator. Check the current zoning map before any non-operator visit.
