Blairgowrie Pier
Pier dive on the Mornington Peninsula in Port Phillip Bay: the pylons are covered in sponges, ascidians, algae and kelp, hosting shrimp, crabs, sea stars, tube worms, scallops and many nudibranchs. Divers may see big-belly and short-head seahorses, octopus, spider crabs, stingarees, cuttlefish, pipefish, dragonets, southern fiddler rays, smooth stingrays and reef fish; Shaw's cowfish are a photographers' favourite and the endemic tasselled frogfish is hard to spot. The pier is a good night dive, and giant spider crabs gather in shallow water at Blairgowrie and Rye from late May to mid-June. Port Phillip Bay is 8–20 °C with typical visibility of 6–10 m.
