Lighthouse Bay – Blizzard Ridge (sanctuary zone)
Sanctuary-zone dive area at the northern tip of Ningaloo Reef (North West Cape), where fishing, spearfishing and anchoring are prohibited. Blizzard Ridge is a sandy-bottomed ridge line, mostly 12–15 m deep and reachable only by scuba, with reef sharks, giant morays, large groupers, sea snakes, schooling fish and hard and soft corals. Nearby sites named by local operators include the Labyrinth (a turtle cleaning station) and the deeper Dibley. The sand lifts in wind, giving the ridge its 'blizzard' name and poor visibility.
