Baixa do Norte
A reef in the Pico–Faial channel, about 1 nautical mile north of the Madalena islets. The top at about 17 m is a 150 m long platform often populated by blue jack mackerel, which draw Almaco jacks, barracuda, skipjack tuna and Atlantic bonito. Crevices shelter territorial dusky groupers, morays, barred hogfish and red scorpionfish; at about 35 m there are patches of black coral, and occasionally ocean sunfish and devil rays pass.
