Cueva de los Peces (cenote, freshwater / brackish)
FRESHWATER / BRACKISH cenote beside the road about 18 km from Playa Girón, a few metres from the sea. Wikipedia gives its depth as 72 m and calls it the deepest cenote in Cuba; the pool is open and popular with snorkellers, while underwater tunnels link it to the ocean so marine fish swim in the pool. One listing rates diving here advanced (cave penetration and the deep sections need technical training).

- Tips: Cave penetration and the deep sections need cave / technical diver qualification (Full Cave or equivalent) and a guide. The dive centre at the car park is meant for the sea in front, not the cave (showcaves.com). Entry was free in 2023; the open pool is also snorkelled. Sources differ on whether the water is fully fresh - treat it as brackish with a halocline.
