Achilleas Wreck
The Greek vessel Achilleas exploded and sank in 1975 for reasons that were never explained; she now lies on a sandy and rocky bottom at about 12 m, roughly ten minutes by boat from Paphos harbour just past the lighthouse. The wreck broke into three main sections. The best-known feature is the bronze propeller on the upturned stern, next to the winch, and the intact engine is exposed through a broken side. Octopus shelter in the engine, a moray eel often hides in the winch section, and bream, damselfish, wrasse and cardinalfish live around the hull. A site that Cydive recommends for divers finishing their Scuba Diver or Open Water course.
