Abu Kafan
Long, narrow offshore reef about an hour south-east of Safaga with a plateau at each end and walls that drop into very deep water. The walls carry large sea fans and soft corals, and the site is known for pelagic action: jacks, barracuda, reef sharks and green turtles, with hammerheads reported at times.
