El Fanous East
Eastern part of a 300 m reef marked by a beacon ('fanous'), about 30 minutes from Hurghada. A shallow wall rises from sloping sand scattered with coral blocks and table corals, and two ergs covered in soft corals stand about 20 m from the main reef. Snappers, parrotfish and turtles are common, and dolphins are sometimes met.
