Amoco Cadiz
Liberian-flagged supertanker that ran aground on the Portsall rocks on 16 March 1978 in a south-westerly gale, broke into three pieces and caused one of the largest oil spills of its time; the French Navy later sank the remains with depth charges. The wreckage lies off Portsall in about 15–30 m and is now often visited by recreational divers.
