P-38 Lightning (Harry Greenup)
The P-38 of the young American pilot Harry Greenup, shot down by German forces over the bay of La Ciotat in January 1944; he managed to get out of the aircraft before it sank. The national park gives its position and says it lies upside down at about 40 m; divers describe it as broken, with mainly wing sections remaining – the same aircraft type as Saint-Exupéry's.
