Christoforos Shipwreck (Panormos Bay, Skopelos)
The Christoforos is an 85 m cargo ship (a collier built in Scotland in 1950 as Thomas Hardie) that was carrying 2,600 tonnes of cement from Volos to Piraeus when it took a list in bad weather in October 1983 and was abandoned in Panormos Bay, Skopelos. It stands upright, rising from about 15 m with the deck at roughly 32-35 m and a maximum depth of about 38 m (other sources give up to 43 m). Diving there was not allowed until November 2018; it is now a Ministry of Culture-approved site dived with Skopelos Dive Center, whose base is about 0.3 nautical miles away. The position is approximate (bay centre near Panormos), no exact coordinates are published.
