Mitilini Wreck (Sani, Kassandra)
The Mitilini was a German-flagged cargo ship that sank in autumn 1961 about two miles north-east of Sani, roughly 600 m from shore, after a propeller failure in a storm; it carried wine barrels and groceries and nobody died. The wreck is about 40 m long and rests in sand at about 20 m, with the bridge, storerooms, prow and stern still recognisable and covered in life; large pelagic fish appear in summer. The ministry list names a wreck 'Mytilini' in Kypsa bay, Kassandra, without depth, and it is treated here as the same wreck, which was not confirmed. The position is the approximate one published by Wannadive.
