Beang Abang
Beang Abang is a small bay on the south-east side of Pantar, below the Sirung volcano, where hot springs run onto the beach. The diving is on dark grey-black sand slopes dotted with soft corals, anemones and algae, and it is one of the strait's best critter areas: frogfish of many colours, ghost pipefish, ribbon eels, wonderpus, Ambon scorpionfish, seahorses, countless snake eels and nudibranchs, with octopus and bobbit worms at night. The village jetty attracts schools of scads and batfish. The water here is noticeably colder than further north.
