Rayners Rock
Rayners Rock is known for pelagics and unpredictable sightings: mantas and whale sharks are often seen around 17–18 m near the rock, with jacks, barracuda and giant trevally offshore, plus emperors, angelfish, Napoleon wrasse, groupers and nudibranchs between sea fans and soft corals. Surge and currents are strong. Aur lies about 70 km off Mersing in the Johor Marine Park; it is reached by boat from Mersing Jetty and a 2013-dated source says high marine-park fees made operators stop visiting, so confirm availability, fees and MeTOS registration first.
