Open pit cenote near Yunkú (Sacalum), about 70 km south of Mérida, regarded as the deepest in Yucatán: explorations have reached about 140 m and a 2025 technical team descended to 120 m. A murky green surface layer gives way to clear water below roughly 10–15 m. A hydrogen sulphide cloud sits at the halocline around 64–70 m, and deep side passages host blind cave fish and shrimp. A diver has died here in the past.
