Jaskinia Kasprowa Niżnia (Tatra Mts)

A 3.1 km cave (47 m vertical range) whose northern branch ends in a chain of permanently flooded sumps with short dry sections between. Most sumps were dived in 1996 and 2002; Krzysztof Starnawski's January 2002 campaign added 180 m of new passage in four dives. Syfon Warszawiaków is reported as about 333 m long and 22-24 m deep (sources differ), among the longest sumps in Poland. Nobody is reported to have pushed beyond his 2002 limit.

Permit: All Tatra caves lie inside Tatra National Park. Entry needs a Karta Taternika Jaskiniowego or a TPN licence (or a cave-course place under a licensed instructor), the team leader must register the trip at jaskinie.tpn.pl, and research/exploration (including dives) needs separate permission from the park directorate. Tips: Cave water is around 4 degrees C per a Starnawski interview (RMF24) and access to the sumps is long and demanding. Needs cave-diver certification, caving skills and TPN permission. Depth shown is the 22-24 m reported for the deepest sump.
