Lake Bled – Castle Bathing Area
Lake Bled (1.45 km², max. 30 m) is suitable for both swimming and diving, and the local club DPD Bled, diving here since 1974, is based inside the Castle Bathing Area (Grajsko kopališče) below the castle. From the bathing area's comfortable entry you follow the shore east towards the town at 2–5 m, among water lilies, aquatic plants and many large fish; a dive of up to two hours stays interesting. The western direction has somewhat less life. Below about 5 m the water gets colder and the bottom turns to bare mud. Surface water reaches 25 °C in summer but is about 4 °C at depth.
