Kolpa at the Rosalnice bridge (Metlika)
On the Kolpa, the border river with Croatia near Metlika in Bela krajina, a pool under the bridge at Rosalnice reaches about 5 m depending on gravel. It is an easy, shallow dive with a weak current that also works at night. Wels catfish lurk among sunken trees and old railway sleepers under the bridge, larger fish sit on the shallows downstream, and snails, river mussels and swarms of small fish are everywhere. In summer the water warms to around 25 °C (about 5 °C in winter) and visibility is usually good.
