Sand-pit lake at Male Rebrce (Pajčna)
Between Zagradec and Žužemberk in the Krka valley, an abandoned sand pit near the hamlet of Male Rebrce has filled with water within the last few years, creating a small lake more than 8 m deep. Locals use it as a fishing pond, and its steep banks keep bathers away. The 2016 PAS sheet describes cold, dark water below 4 m with only simple algae on a silty bottom, while the shallows are fun to explore among the branches of drowned trees, where small fish and fry hide. A tour of the whole shoreline takes about an hour.
