Soča under Napoleon Bridge (Kobarid)
Just before Kobarid the Soča cuts a short, narrow gorge under the historic Napoleon Bridge, the best-known river dive in the valley. You enter from a small gravel beach below the bridge, fin upstream along the bottom to the first rapids and drift back. The pool is usually 7–8 m deep, but floods move so much gravel that depth changes from year to year (from about 2 m to over 10 m). Expect clear emerald water, carved rock, deep undercuts where big trout rest, and with luck a large marble trout. The water is very cold: about 4 °C in winter and only around 12 °C in summer.

- Level: intermediate
- Current: moderate

- Tips: Dive only at low water: the Slovenian diving federation's atlas suggests the gauge at Log Čezsoški should be below ~50 cm and flow below ~10 m³/s (ARSO real-time data). Basic current-diving skills, extra weight and a torch for the undercuts are recommended; no night dives (difficult access, strong current). Watch out for kayaks and rafts overhead. Summer is warmest, winter gives the best visibility – a drysuit is advisable most of the year. Small parking areas are beyond the bridge on the Drežnica and Ladra roads.
