Soča gorge at Kršovec (Bovec)
Where the Soča leaves the narrow Trenta valley for the Bovec basin it has carved the short Kršovec gorge, right by the old lower station of the Golobar freight cableway. Divers enter from a wide pool at the end of the gorge and work upstream along the bottom (about 5–6 m) using eddies and counter-currents, until the shallowing rapids stop progress – roughly a 30-minute dive. Large fish wait in ambush in the lower gorge and are not shy. The water is cold (about 4 °C in winter, 10 °C in summer) and the current is strong, so expect at least double your normal gas use. This is the only Soča site inside Triglav National Park where the park allows diving, and only with its consent.

- Tips: Obtain the Triglav National Park Public Institute's consent before diving. Inspect the whole gorge on foot first (suspension bridge on the left bank), then descend about 40 m of height on the steep kayakers' path in full gear. Dive only at low water; watch for the many kayakers; the sun reaches the gorge floor only in the afternoon. No night dives. The WWI tunnel parallel to the gorge can be walked with a torch – never with dive gear.
