Don Pedro (wreck)
Don Pedro was a roll-on/roll-off ship over 140 m long that struck the small Dado islet near Ibiza port in July 2007 and sank in about 45 minutes; the Spanish government report puts it 1.4 nautical miles south-east of the port. It lies on its starboard side with the bow at about 105° and its shallowest part at about 24 m, on a sandy bottom to about 45 m. Centres usually moor to a submerged buoy and descend along the starboard side to the propeller at about 36 m, the loading ramp and the stern, or the anchor and bulb forward; barracuda, scorpionfish and large growths are reported. Interior penetration is dangerous – only a rectangular hull opening at about 26–33 m is mentioned and the catalogue restricts any interior dive to divers equipped for overhead environments. GPS from the Consell de Formentera dive catalogue.
