Dungonab Bay – Mukkawar Island (marine park)
Second component of the UNESCO World Heritage property, about 125–130 km north of Port Sudan and a Ramsar wetland since 2009: a lagoon-like bay with seagrass meadows, home to one of Africa's most important dugong populations and a seasonal aggregation area for manta rays (Mesharifa lagoon, reported Aug–Nov). Sharks, turtles and seabirds are also protected here (Dungonab park declared 2004). It is a protected area rather than a classic dive site; no operator was found that publishes regular dives here.
