Koh Maa Shipwreck Park
An artificial-reef wreck park laid 'just outside Koh Maa' in December 2021, when three decommissioned Royal Thai Navy vessels (reported as HTMS Prab, Tor 15 and Tor 16) were sunk as an underwater learning park. Lanta Diver reports the hulls at about 12, 18 and 24 m and says the park has grown to 11 wrecks, with young corals and fish schools settling on them. A nearby natural reef holds small schools of snapper, glassfish, butterflyfish and some nudibranchs.
Facts
- Region: Thailand – Koh Lanta & Krabi
- Area: Koh Maa (between Lanta and Phi Phi)
- Depth: 12–30 m
- Level: beginner
- Current: moderate
- Type: wreck, reef
- Coordinates: 7.615, 98.87 (approximate)
- Highlights: artificial reef, snapper, glassfish, butterflyfish, nudibranchs
- Unverified: Position: no published GPS; 'Koh Maa' is matched to the SSI 'Koh Ma' point near Ko Po islet east of Phi Phi, while another island called Ko Ma lies off Ko Ngai (Trang) – the pin may be wrong; wreck names come only from a forum repost of the 2021 ceremony news.
- Tips: Dived from Koh Lanta on the way back from Koh Bida (Lanta Diver). Ask the operator where exactly the wrecks lie before relying on the map pin.
