Anemone Reef
Anemone Reef (Hin Jom, 'submerged rock') is a limestone pinnacle about 600 m north of Shark Point that rises from roughly 25–30 m to just 5 m below the surface. Every surface is carpeted with sea anemones and their anemonefish, while the eastern slope holds large sea fans where tiger-tail seahorses and ghost pipefish hide. Groups of lionfish, scorpionfish in barrel sponges, morays and schools of snappers, fusiliers and small barracuda gather around it, and leopard sharks cross the sand. This is the reef the King Cruiser ferry struck in 1997.
