Banana Bay
Banana Bay is a large, sheltered bay about a kilometre long on the eastern side of Racha Noi, halfway between the north and south tips. The dive starts on shallow white sand and a hard-coral reef with regenerating staghorn patches that slopes at around 45° to sand at about 25 m. Large schools of barracuda – sometimes close to a thousand fish – hang over the reef, with lizardfish, fusiliers, redtooth triggerfish, moray eels and cuttlefish. Leopard sharks and manta rays appear only rarely.
