Bays 1 & 2
Bays 1 and 2 on the north-east of Racha Yai are probably the busiest training bays around Phuket: a sandy floor slopes gently from a few metres to around 25 m. The hard corals were hit by bleaching, but cube-shaped artificial reefs and several small wrecks now hold much of the life. Clouded, fimbriated and giant morays, blue-spotted and Kuhl's rays, peacock flounder, schooling barracuda, turtles, cuttlefish and reef octopus are regulars, and the bay is sheltered from wind and waves.
