Koh Torinla
Off the east coast of Koh Torinla, the southernmost Surin island, a large staghorn and porites coral plateau reaches the surface at low tide. Just offshore a long rocky ridge collects much of Surin's fish life: batfish and pickhandle barracuda at depth, whitetip reef sharks on the ridge top between about 7 and 25 m, and occasional grey reef sharks and Spanish mackerel. The sand between ridge and reef hosts mantis shrimps and the blue-spotted Andaman jawfish.
