Gyékényesi kavicsbánya-tó (Kotró)
Gyékényes, near the Croatian border, has one of Hungary's best-known open-water training lakes: a former gravel pit (the 'Kotró') with a dedicated dive base, Diving Galactic, on its shore. Inside the buoyed dive area there is a training course with installed underwater structures, and clubs report sunken car and boat wrecks for divers to find. Fish are used to divers here, so carp, pike, zander, wels catfish and crayfish are often seen at close range. The base is open all year and is used for courses, guided dives and competitions.
