Illetes islets (Illa de sa Caleta, Cala Contesa)
The Illetes are a group of small islets (Illa de sa Caleta, Illa de sa Torre with its defence tower, Illa des Pas) off the Calvià coast, a few minutes by boat from the West Coast Divers base at Illetas. Stepped, weed-covered rock leads to sand and Posidonia seagrass down to about 25 m (Big Blue lists 18 m), with no sharp drop-offs. Being inside the Bay of Palma it is sheltered from most winds except southerlies, so it is the fallback when the west coast is rough. Schooling fish, octopus, barracuda and sardines are reported.
