Wakatobi
Wakatobi takes its name from its four main islands – Wangi-Wangi, Kaledupa, Tomia and Binongko – off the south-eastern tip of Sulawesi. The whole archipelago is a marine national park, one of the largest protected areas in Indonesia. Most diving centres on Tomia, where Wakatobi Dive Resort and its liveaboard Pelagian work a dense cluster of seamounts, walls and sandy bays around Onemobaa, Sawa and Lintea. Wangi-Wangi, the gateway with the public airport, and Kaledupa with the research island of Hoga offer quieter diving, mostly with local operators or visiting liveaboards.
